Any Suggestions? 10:18 < TheSeven> JR__: the installer should already have copied rockbox, if everything went right 10:19 < TheSeven> if it didn't, do the following: 10:19 < TheSeven> - pick the rockbox.ipod file from the rockbox-ipodclassic.zip archive 10:19 < TheSeven> - strip off the first 8 bytes, rename it to rockbox.ubi 10:19 < TheSeven> - choose "UMSboot" in the iLoader menu 10:20 < TheSeven> - copy the rockbox.ubi file to the volume that shows up, and eject that volume 10:20 < TheSeven> - rockbox should boot up, and you should be able to access the hard drive 10:52 < JR__> ill give it a try, thank you very much 11:00 -!- JR__ [63ea1c65@gateway/web/freenode/ip.99.234.28.101] has quit [Quit: Page closed] 11:26 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has joined #freemyipod-support 12:01 -!- S_a_i_n_t [S_a_i_n_t@203.184.0.105] has quit [Disconnected by services] 12:01 -!- [Saint] [S_a_i_n_t@203.184.0.227] has joined #freemyipod-support 12:07 -!- [Saint] [S_a_i_n_t@203.184.0.227] has quit [Disconnected by services] 12:07 -!- S_a_i_n_t [S_a_i_n_t@203.184.0.65] has joined #freemyipod-support 12:17 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 12:53 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds] 13:04 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has joined #freemyipod-support 13:04 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has joined #freemyipod-support 13:06 -!- STeeF [~STeeF@office.hostnetbv.nl] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 13:13 -!- STeeF [~STeeF@office.hostnetbv.nl] has joined #freemyipod-support 14:14 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #freemyipod-support 14:25 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 14:53 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has joined #freemyipod-support 15:14 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 16:06 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has joined #freemyipod-support 16:49 -!- asmmonkey [~asmmonkey@32.Red-83-51-129.dynamicIP.rima-tde.net] has joined #freemyipod-support 17:00 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has quit [Quit: Bye ;)] 18:54 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #freemyipod-support 18:59 -!- Dreamxtreme [~Dre@92.30.96.65] has quit [Quit: +++ OK ATH OK] 19:03 -!- JR [63ea1c65@gateway/web/freenode/ip.99.234.28.101] has joined #freemyipod-support 19:04 < JR> I have to strip off the first 8 bytes, rename it to rockbox.ubi, but can't figure it out. Any help? 19:07 < TheSeven> the fist eight bytes... which will probably be "XXXXip6g", with the XXXX being some garbage 19:16 < JR> sorry i'm still a little confused, how many lines is that that I need to delete in HxD? 19:17 < JR> O..ĂȘemBIboot is the first line, is that what i'm supposed to delete? 19:19 < Farthen> you are looking at the wrong file 19:19 < Farthen> you need to open the rockbox.ipod 19:21 < JR> Wow, i'm sorry about that, i was looking at the wrong window. 19:31 -!- JR [63ea1c65@gateway/web/freenode/ip.99.234.28.101] has quit [Quit: Page closed] 19:31 -!- Dreamxtreme [~Dre@92.30.96.65] has joined #freemyipod-support 19:37 -!- JR [63ea1c65@gateway/web/freenode/ip.99.234.28.101] has joined #freemyipod-support 19:40 < JR> So I successfully have Rockbox installed, Thanks again for all your help. Now when I plug in the ipod to the pc it freezes up My Computer & when I try to access the Ipod it tells me it must be formated. Should I be formatting the unit? And if so to what partition style? It only shows me exFAT & NTFS 19:41 < TheSeven> but iloader works? 19:44 < JR> Yes sir, once I striped the .pod file & renamed it to .ubi it sucessfully installed & booted into rockbox, I then plugged the usb cable into the comp & it hangs in "My Computer" . If I reset the unit holding select+menu it boots back into iloader & tells me rockbox is not installed 19:45 < TheSeven> hm, so it can find the /iLoader folder, but not /.rockbox 19:45 < TheSeven> that's very weird 19:45 < TheSeven> boot umsboot again, and copy the installer to it once again 19:45 < JR> Tell me about it, lol 19:46 < TheSeven> does that only briefly say "flashing...", or does it again warn you that you may lose your data etc.? 19:46 -!- asmmonkey [~asmmonkey@32.Red-83-51-129.dynamicIP.rima-tde.net] has quit [Quit: mov pc, lr] 19:46 < JR> But now it does finally show up in my computer but forcing me to format in order to access the drive 19:47 < JR> sorry i never seen the word flashing, 19:47 < TheSeven> if you unplug your ipod after booting rockbox, and browse the files menu, what do you see? 19:48 < TheSeven> try deleting the iLoader folder that way (hold the center button on the folder and choose delete) 19:53 < JR> just give me a min, i tried to format & now it says iloader is corrupted, i'll reinstall & get back to you 19:53 < TheSeven> hm, that should hopefully fix it as well 20:47 < JR> Is it normal for the Iloader installer to take over 2hrs to finish? I'm still in the Installing Files part of the installation 20:48 < TheSeven> should take like 5 minutes 20:48 < TheSeven> how much of the progress bar is filled? 20:48 < TheSeven> did the ipod have disk problems in the past? (bad sectors etc.) 20:49 < JR> the progress bar is almost done 20:50 < JR> I did have a error in the past with a unknown error 1439 when trying to restore the ipod in itunes 20:50 < JR> Had no problems booting into Rockbox, just when i plug it into the PC I can't access the HD 20:52 < TheSeven> well, apparently the last time the installation was fubar'd with not even the file system really intact 20:53 < TheSeven> let alone rockbox... 20:53 < TheSeven> do you hear any repeated clicking sound from the drive? 20:54 < JR> nope, i checked the HD for damage & it seemes to be fine 20:55 < JR> k just finished the installer & it's showing up as "Could not load iloader theme" again 20:57 < JR> Should I try the uninstall iloader option & just start again from scratch? Seems to me like it might be my best solution at this point 20:57 < TheSeven> yes, and once you're back at the apple firmware, go into diagmode and check the HDD SMART data 20:57 < TheSeven> especially reallocated and pending count 20:57 < TheSeven> which capacity model is that? 20:58 < JR> 80gb 6th gen 20:58 -!- asmmonkey [~asmmonkey@32.Red-83-51-129.dynamicIP.rima-tde.net] has joined #freemyipod-support 20:58 < TheSeven> ok, i know that particular drive rather well :/ 20:59 < JR> I had run the diagnostic mode prior to installing & everything seemed fine. I was stuck at the FW check but all memory tests had passed succesfully 21:01 < TheSeven> memory tests have nothing to do with the hard drive 21:01 < TheSeven> if "pending sector count" is nonzero, your drive is going nuts 21:03 < JR> I'm getting the same error 1439 during restore 21:05 < JR> k i'm able to boot into diagnostic mode, sorry what should i be doing here? 21:07 < JR> im stuck on the hp detect screen 21:13 < JR> I'm starting to get a little fustrated with the unit for today so I think it's time to walk away for now.
