15:58 < dsana123> Using the rockbox fallback image, in the frist attempt to USB connect the Windows Eplorer hung. After rebooting the iPod and using the rockbox fallback image, Windows Exporer recognised the iPod and I can see the files.

15:59 < dsana123> Also, this is the first time that the iPod recovers from USB disconnection. Usually the "USB Plug" image stays on the screen, but this time it returned to the main menu.

16:09 < dsana123> Hmmm, I can't get the PC to recognise the iPod device again after trying several times. This is before extracting the rockbox-ipodclassic-usbfixcandidate.zip file to the drive.

16:11 < dsana123> The initial condition is that the iPod is OFF and connected to the PC. I switch it ON, and the PC gives me this message: "Windows needs to install driver software for your emCore Debugger".

16:20 < dsana123> In my email, in order for Windows Explorer to recognise the iPod I needed to UMSBoot first, and then start  rockbox. The PC would then recognise the iPod. But only for the first time. In subseuqent times it would not until I UMSbooted. However...

16:21 < dsana123> I think I can NOT consistently get the PC to recognise the iPod since I have been trying this for the last few minutes.

16:24 < dsana123> Also, I'm not sure how important this is, but sometimes the PC recognises the iPod and assigns a drive letter to it. When I navigate to the drive, the folder appears empty and I can not transfer contents to it.
