I waited about 30 minutes then rebooted my PC to try restarting the Hal daemon. Now the disk doesn't appear. should I power the iPod down and repeat "sudo python ipoddfu.py bootstrap-ipodclassic.dfu" or just reboot the iPod? Thanks 08:20 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #freemyipod-support 09:05 < user890104_> jones1: restart the ipod with menu+select, then reconnect in DFU and repeat the procedure 09:06 < user890104_> it should appear as a drive without partitions (ex. /dev/sdb) 09:06 < user890104_> and you should be able to mount it with something like that: mount /deb/sdb /media/whatever 09:13 < user890104_> so basicly you get something like that in fdisk -l: http://pastebin.com/WqfQFuyy 09:37 < jones1> thanks, that is very similar to my output. I tried mounting w/o specifying a filetype. It seems to be working, though slowly. I'll re-check it in the morning. 09:49 -!- user890104_ is now known as user890104 14:34 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has quit [] 14:57 -!- [Saint] [~st.lasciv@124-197-3-117.callplus.net.nz] has quit [Quit: Imagination is for turbo-nerds who can't handle how kick-butt reality is. Problem is, after I close the service in task manager, and hold the menu+center button, once the ipod goes into the "shut down" state and starts installing the driver, the service starts up again, iTunes launches, and tries to restore the ipod. So when I try to run the bootstrap.exe, it says that no DFU device was found 19:45 < Farthen> after installing the driver you just have to kill itunes again 19:45 < Farthen> if you killed all processes you should be fine though 19:45 < Beremat> It starts up again within 2-3 seconds :/ 19:46 < Farthen> you need to kill applemobiledevicehelper.exe and ituneshelper.exe, then itunes itself 19:46 < Beremat> ah, okay, thanks, I'll try that 19:48 < Beremat> success! thanks again 19:51 < TheSeven> ah, this might be one of the reasons why people always fail at this step 19:52 < TheSeven> if the driver installation brings up itunes, and itunes then pushes the device to WTF mode, that's not so nice 19:55 * benedikt93 had his problems with this, too when using ibugger again after a long time.. 19:55 < benedikt93> *which was today 19:56 < Beremat> yeah, the instructions should say to kill both processes 19:56 < Beremat> installation was flawless after that point 19:56 < TheSeven> yeah, but probably only because the dfu driver was already installed at that point? 20:00 < jones1> The instructions are on a wiki page.
