17:51 < ant___> ok, well i installed emCORE on my ipod classic (6th gen) and as part of the installation i have to unplug the ipod from my computer, turn it on, then plug it back in to install the rest of the stuff for rockbox (beyond the basic stuff). the problem is that my coputer wont recognize my ipod anymore
17:51 < ant___> i put it on UMSboot and nothing. i opened rockbox and then plugged it in (as i was instructed) and then rockbox would freeze and thats it. the instructions said it would take a few minutes, but i left it like that for almost 30 with no result

(if this ends up being a problem i cant fix, ill come back) my original issue is that my ipod refused to work, and itunes refused to restore it so after 2 years i realized i could fix it by doing this.

19:54 < TheSeven> if the drive gets stuck on a parcicularly evil sector, you have two options
19:54 < TheSeven> either wait for like 5 minutes for it to give up
19:54 < TheSeven> or power cycle it physically
19:55 < TheSeven> we're doing the latter to speed things up, even though that isn't good for the drive
19:55 < TheSeven> but given what shape the drive is in, I wouldn't care much about that, and if we wouldn't kill it the hard way, the scan would take several times as long as it does this way
