I'm looking for a toolchain to program the iPod "5th generation enhanced" (aka iPod video, black, 80 gigs). The wiki doesn't seem to indicate anything for that particular model. Can I use something like DevkitARM? Is there any documentation around for this model? 16:15 < Amadiro> Actually, just some technical specs would be nice, I'm struggling to really find any good resources on google. 16:16 < user890104> Amadiro: you could have a look at http://www.rockbox.org/ or http://ipl.derpapst.eu/ 16:16 < Amadiro> user890104, thanks, I'll have a look. 16:16 < user890104> the freemyipod project does not support PortalPlayer-based ipods 16:16 < Amadiro> user890104, I see (I haven't heard the term "PortalPlayer" before). 16:18 < user890104> http://ipl.derpapst.eu/wiki/Generations#Fifth_Generation_.285G.29_.2F_Fifth_Generation_Enhanced_.285.5G.29 16:18 < user890104> the CPU is PortalPlayer 16:18 < Amadiro> Hmm.. That's not ARM? 16:19 < Amadiro> I see derpapst.eu has some memory maps etc, I might be able to use that 16:21 < Amadiro> user890104, do you happen to know (for iPods in general) whether the connector (the thing used to connect to a pc/mac via USB/firewire) has its own controller-chip that handles the usb/fw, or whether it can be controlled/re-purposed by the programmer to do generic other things? 16:23 < Amadiro> nice, the PP chip still seems to be ARM7TDMI-based, I know those fairly well. 16:23 < user890104> i'm not sure, you can look at the datasheet of ipod 5g/5.5g's CPU http://www.eefocus.com/data/06-12/111_1165987864/File/1166002400.pdf 16:24 < Amadiro> yeah, looking at it right now 16:24 < Amadiro> thanks 16:24 < user890104> and it *is* ARM 16:24 < Amadiro> yeah. Same chip as in the gameboy advance and nintendo DS 16:25 < Amadiro> well, roughly, anyway, seems to run at a much higher clockspeed 16:28 < Amadiro> Anyway, sorry for the offtopic, and thanks for the info. 17:10 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #freemyipod-support 18:19 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 18:20 -!- user890104 [~Venci@6bez10.info] has joined #freemyipod-support 19:38 -!- liar [~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at] has joined #freemyipod-support 19:47 -!- Poodlemastah [~chatzilla@h-241-205.a218.priv.bahnhof.se] has joined #freemyipod-support 20:15 -!- jimadilo [5772aafb@gateway/web/freenode/ip.87.114.170.251] has joined #freemyipod-support 20:15 < jimadilo> hi 20:16 < jimadilo> anyone about?@ 20:18 -!- jimadilo [5772aafb@gateway/web/freenode/ip.87.114.170.251] has quit [Client Quit] 20:33 -!- Poodlemastah [~chatzilla@h-241-205.a218.priv.bahnhof.se] has quit [Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.87 [Firefox 7.0a2/20110816042010]] 20:42 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has quit [Quit: Bye ;)] 21:54 -!- hypertux_ [5c28fe72@gateway/web/freenode/ip.92.40.254.114] has joined #freemyipod-support 21:55 < hypertux_> hi I've just tried installing EmCore onto my iPod Classic 6g but when i run the bootstrap program it says cannot open DFU device 22:04 -!- hypertux_ [5c28fe72@gateway/web/freenode/ip.92.40.254.114] has quit [Quit: Page closed] 22:58 -!- liar [~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] --- Log closed Thu Aug 18 00:03:16 2011
