Have any of these been fixed? 19:55 < user890104> which ipod? classic? 19:56 < belak> Yeah, iPod classic 19:58 < user890104> the issues are still there 19:58 < user890104> http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Releases#Release_notes_.2F_Known_issues 20:01 < user890104> there's a fix for the USB problem (the third one in Known issues) 20:01 < user890104> but the battery life is still bad compared to original firmware 20:02 < user890104> and crashing/stuttering happens from time to time 20:05 < belak> Ah, ok 20:09 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has quit [Quit: Bye ;)] 20:58 -!- bah [~bah@c-24-20-32-150.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] has joined #freemyipod-support 21:17 < bah> alright, I must be doing something very stupid. I'm trying to install the emcore on my ipod classic. After killing AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, I hold menu+select until it goes black and the apple recovery usb device starts up. 21:18 < bah> but when I run bootstrap_ipdclassic_itunes.exe, I get the error "could not open DFU device" 21:18 < bah> anyone have any ideas for what I'm doing wrong? 21:20 < [7]> hm, i assume you tried that multiple times? 21:20 < bah> yeah. should itunes be popping back up after the recovery usb device connects? 21:20 < [7]> if itunes gets hold of it, it might put it into some other mode that looks like DFU but isn't the same 21:20 < bah> yeah, thats what I was thinking. I'm going to try stopping all the apple services that got installed 21:21 < [7]> first get rid of itunes and its helper services, then hold menu+select until you are in DFU mode, then run our tool 21:22 < [7]> might be possible that the driver installation launches one of the itunes processes again, so it might work better on the second try when the driver is already installed 21:24 < [7]> does the device name (in the device manager) explicitly mention DFU? 21:24 < [7]> if not, something has probably put it into WTF mode, so you will need to reboot the ipod 21:25 < bah> thanks for the suggestions. working on trying all of them. :) 21:26 < [7]> if everything else fails, do it on linux :P 21:32 < bah> sweet. had to stop and disable the "ipod service" in win7. also missed killing the ipodhelper.exe process running. got it to umsboot now. :) 21:51 -!- bah [~bah@c-24-20-32-150.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 21:59 -!- bah [~bah@c-24-20-32-150.hsd1.wa.comcast.net] has joined #freemyipod-support 22:01 < bah> gah, if ony my linux box wasn't in the middle of an install. :) can't get windows to mount the 64MB umsboot so I can copy the ubi file 22:11 < bah> looks like the bootstrap app is getting an error from DeviceIoControl "Error 31: A device attached to the system is not functioning.". Although the program gets to the end and shows "UMSboot has been launched!" 22:29 -!- liar [~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 22:43 < bah> sweet. killing HDDsentinel resolved the auto-mount issue. what a pain windows is. 22:46 < bah> thanks for your help earlier [7] 22:57 -!- ungali [ae002911@gateway/web/freenode/ip.174.0.41.17] has joined #freemyipod-support 23:01 -!- ungali [ae002911@gateway/web/freenode/ip.174.0.41.17] has quit [Client Quit] 23:56 -!- belak [belak@subtle/user/belak] has left #freemyipod-support --- Log closed Mon Sep 12 01:35:17 2011
