17:18 < TheSeven> xatlx: make sure itunes is installed on the PC, but it and all other apple stuff isn't running (all processes/services killed using the task manager)
17:18 < TheSeven> then reboot the ipod and enter DFU again (something might have confused it in the meantime)
17:18 < TheSeven> and after that it should work
17:21 < xatlx> when i enter DFU mod on the ipod all the itune stuff pop up again

20:39 < TheSeven> whether it is wiped at all depends on which ipod model you're talking about and what has previously been installed on it, but umsboot generally won't touch any kind of persistent storage
20:39 < TheSeven> it's the installer (.ubi image) that will wipe your data, if anything at all
20:39 < KiRaShi> I have the ipod classic 6g 80GB model, never before modded or touched, running latest firmware
20:40 < KiRaShi> so installing rockbox will wipe it then?
20:40 < TheSeven> that will be wiped during installation, but you will be warned before that

20:42 < TheSeven> the battery doesn't last quite as long as it does with the apple firmware yet, and there are some crashes from time to time
20:42 < TheSeven> I think we have just discovered the reason for most of those a couple of days ago, but we're not quite sure yet how to fix it
20:43 < KiRaShi> well,.... true enough :P obviously catching fire would be significant lol. ok, fair enough, i mean thats to be expected for most custom firmwares.

20:44 < TheSeven> yes, and I hope that there will be an update that solves most of the other stability issues during the next couple of months

20:45 < KiRaShi> by no means am i as technically savy as you guys (you can probably speak in hex ;) ) but flashing firmware i have done before and got no problem with reporting any issues i run into
