17:08 < Elfish> meta questions suck 17:09 < xatlx> lol 17:09 < xatlx> can i ask you Elfish ? 17:12 < Elfish> no meta questions ffs 17:15 < xatlx> what does meta means ? 17:16 < xatlx> when i but my ipod classic 3g in DFU mode the bootstrap_ipodclassic_itune.exe doesnt find it at all 17:16 < xatlx> how would i fix that ? 17:18 < TheSeven> xatlx: make sure itunes is installed on the PC, but it and all other apple stuff isn't running (all processes/services killed using the task manager) 17:18 < TheSeven> then reboot the ipod and enter DFU again (something might have confused it in the meantime) 17:18 < TheSeven> and after that it should work 17:21 < xatlx> when i enter DFU mod on the ipod all the itune stuff pop up again 17:21 < xatlx> is ther a way to stop it from poping up ? 17:21 < TheSeven> that means that you didn't catch all of it 17:21 < TheSeven> there's probably the apple mobile device service still running 17:21 < xatlx> damn your right 17:22 < xatlx> it was runing under SYSTEM not users 17:22 < xatlx> damn windows 17:22 < xatlx> thx alot TheSeven 17:22 < xatlx> your my Hero for today unless the Tom Brady win today 17:36 -!- xatlx [61561961@gateway/web/freenode/ip.97.86.25.97] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 19:32 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #freemyipod-support 20:01 -!- liar [~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at] has quit [Read error: Connection timed out] 20:37 -!- KiRaShi [46430288@gateway/web/freenode/ip.70.67.2.136] has joined #freemyipod-support 20:38 < KiRaShi> hey a quick question about EmCORE installation, will it wipe my ipod upon installing and enabling UMSBOOT? 20:39 < TheSeven> whether it is wiped at all depends on which ipod model you're talking about and what has previously been installed on it, but umsboot generally won't touch any kind of persistent storage 20:39 < TheSeven> it's the installer (.ubi image) that will wipe your data, if anything at all 20:39 < KiRaShi> I have the ipod classic 6g 80GB model, never before modded or touched, running latest firmware 20:40 < KiRaShi> so installing rockbox will wipe it then? 20:40 < TheSeven> that will be wiped during installation, but you will be warned before that 20:40 < KiRaShi> ok, thank you, :D thats all i wanted to know. time to do a disk backup, and EmCORE it :D 20:40 < KiRaShi> have there been significant issues with the classics? 20:41 < TheSeven> that depends on your definition of significant 20:42 < TheSeven> the battery doesn't last quite as long as it does with the apple firmware yet, and there are some crashes from time to time 20:42 < TheSeven> I think we have just discovered the reason for most of those a couple of days ago, but we're not quite sure yet how to fix it 20:43 < KiRaShi> well,.... true enough :P obviously catching fire would be significant lol. ok, fair enough, i mean thats to be expected for most custom firmwares. 20:43 < KiRaShi> you guys managed to fix the USB problems though i see, or at least reduce them 20:44 < TheSeven> yes, and I hope that there will be an update that solves most of the other stability issues during the next couple of months 20:44 < TheSeven> seems like we finally know what's going on :) 20:44 < KiRaShi> Mmmhm :D well I'm willing to sacrifice my ipod classic after 4 years of use, just to test this out and see if it can be improved or helped 20:45 < KiRaShi> by no means am i as technically savy as you guys (you can probably speak in hex ;) ) but flashing firmware i have done before and got no problem with reporting any issues i run into 20:47 < KiRaShi> i'll install this thing when i get back later on, see you later, and thank you for the info :D 20:54 < TheSeven> KiRaShi: the good news is that the stability update will not wipe your data again :) 22:37 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has quit [Quit: Bye ;)] 22:38 -!- Elfish [amba@2a01:4f8:100:90a1:abc:abc:abc:abc] has quit [*.net *.split] --- Log closed Sun Jan 15 00:00:46 2012
