It says "the parameter is incorrect". I'm using Windows 7. [18:13:46] what says "the parameter is incorrect"? [18:13:59] <[7]> that sounds like that winusb problem [18:15:28] "Windows found driver software for your device but enounctered an error... ipod classic/nano 3g bootrom dfu... the paramater is incorrect" [18:51:03] *** Quits: balzl (d92c0ab5@gateway/web/freenode/ip.217.44.10.181) (Quit: Page closed) [19:06:22] *** Joins: balzl (d92c0ab5@gateway/web/freenode/ip.217.44.10.181) [19:12:06] Decided to install itunes to use the driver from that, restored the ipod back to factory settings, restarted, then put my ipod into DFU mode. But I can't see it on device manager, and it isn't being recognised by the bootstrap loader [19:12:57] did you follow the instructions to prevent iTunes from "grabbing" the iPod? [19:13:23] if you don't kill the iTunes processes, it will get hold of the DFU device, no surprise that the bootstrap loader can't find it [19:13:45] in fact, it's easier to install emCore+rockbox if you don't have iTunes installed [19:13:53] but your problem is probably what [7] said [19:13:54] I stopped both processes, yeah [19:14:32] if it's not on the device manager, now I think that's weird, it's a device, it should show up... [19:15:01] <[7]> if you're going the itunes route it's probably hiding in the "USB controllers" category [19:15:19] <[7]> but you don't need to do anything with it, just launch the itunes-based bootstrapper tool and it should take care of it [19:15:45] <[7]> unless some apple shit is still alive and sends it to WTF mode [19:16:00] <[7]> in that case, reboot it into DFU once again after making sure everything apple-ish is completely gone [19:16:23] *** Joins: benedikt93 (~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93) [19:16:28] I'll restore it again and go through the processes and services with a fine tooth comb [19:38:28] You're right, it was in the USB controllers. However even after disabling the services relating to those processes the bootstrap still won't detect it [19:38:44] Mayeb I'm doomed to use ipod firmware forever. [19:51:50] <[7]> balzl: what's the exact name of the device? [19:51:54] <[7]> does it mention DFU? [19:52:15] <[7]> are you using the correct version of the bootstrapper tool? (you need to use the itunes-specific one) [19:58:56] Ffffff... I was still using the other bootstrap loader. Haha, thanks!
