If I need to run USMBoot, then the computers can recognize it just fine but that's useless if I want to add other files and music to it. I am running the latest stable build of emcore and rockbox. [21:53:54] Any help would be greatly appreciated, also it is a 6th gen 80 gig ipod. [22:10:39] On a linux machine the ipod screen has the usb picture on it but the machine will not recognize it while on a windows machine the ipod keeps on connecting and reconnecting. [22:14:39] <[7]> Warp_: known bug with recent rockbox versions [22:14:53] <[7]> boot the rockbox fallback image from the emcore tools menu, that should work better [22:20:44] Tried the fallback image, still no luck. [22:22:19] <[7]> how did you install rockbox initially? [22:22:38] <[7]> during the process you must have got this to work somehow [22:22:48] With the instructions from the freemyipod site [22:23:16] <[7]> and it just worked when extracting the rockbox.zip file to it? [22:23:16] it actually did work for months but lately it just wont be recognized by any computer [22:23:28] <[7]> hm... without updating rockbox? [22:23:59] it was awhile back but I used the zip file that was linked on the instructions [22:24:11] tried reinstalling again today too, but no luck [22:24:23] nothing wrong with the usb cable too [22:24:31] <[7]> so it didn't break as the result of an update? just all of a sudden? [22:24:45] pretty much [22:24:55] <[7]> hm, very weird [22:25:03] Did you try a different port? [22:25:21] <[7]> Warp_: on linux, does dmesg show any reaction to the ipod being plugged? [22:25:37] different ports and computers [22:25:45] and not anymore [22:26:00] it can still charge on the computers too btw [22:26:06] <[7]> so not even an enumeration failure? [22:26:46] nope [22:27:40] Good luck, I need to eat. [22:29:35] <[7]> hm, so we can rule out the pc and all kinds of hardware because umsboot works [22:29:59] <[7]> we can rule out a software update because there was none [22:30:12] <[7]> leaves only the ipod side configuration... [22:30:21] <[7]> did you already try clearing that? [22:32:48] how would I do that? i dont see anything in the boot menu for that [22:54:07] tools -> clear rockbox config [22:58:54] Ah that, yeah I tried that before [23:27:22] Well, thanks for everyone's help, I'll keep messing around with it [23:27:26] *** Quits: Warp_ (4cb7a147@gateway/web/freenode/ip.76.183.161.71) (Quit: Page closed) [23:56:50] *** Quits: cyb3rkn19ht (~cyb3rkn19@c-67-172-198-4.hsd1.va.comcast.net) (Remote host closed the connection)
