Ipod Classic 7G 160GB - installed emCore 859. Everything worked according to instructions. After that was complete, I extracted the latest build of rockbox for ipod classic from rockbox.com into the root of the ipod. That went well. However, now I have the issue that I can no longer access the hard drive to drop in music; if I plug into USB, rockbox gives me the "usb cable" graphic but does not show up on my pc"s file [03:26:40] any ideas? [03:28:27] <[7]> known bug with rockbox releases since about a year [03:29:00] Hey. Any work arounds you know of? or do you revert to earlier versions? [03:29:08] <[7]> or rather builds, as they are not releases technically [03:29:22] <[7]> use the rockbox fallback image to downgrade to an older build [03:29:30] <[7]> you can launch that from emcore's tools menu [03:29:37] cool, doing now [03:29:39] <[7]> it's basically a copy of the rockbox kernel that emcore shipped with [03:30:24] <[7]> you can also stick with your current rockbox build for music playback, and just resort to the fallback image for transferring files [03:31:18] Ok, so when I run the fallback image, I am not replacing the newer version I dropped on the drive, I am just running the fallback image for that session? [03:32:23] <[7]> yes [03:32:31] Great, thanks for the help! [03:32:42] <[7]> and it will be incompatible with the installed codecs and plugins, so audio playback and plugins will not work from within the fallback image [03:32:56] oh okay [03:32:58] <[7]> because the fallback image just contains the kernel, not all the other stuff in .rockbox [03:33:30] <[7]> just power it down and back up to get back into the normal installed build [03:39:40] So just some misc questions, if you have time, obviously not a big deal. #1: anyway to charge and play music? it seems like the USB icon will appear on the ipod whenever the thing is connnected. #2: as far as themes, will those designed for ipod videos work, or some other devices? I don't see any specific ipod classic ones since its earlier in the dev stage [03:40:57] <[7]> #1: press and hold any button while plugging in usb [03:41:25] <[7]> #2: yes, ipod video and cowon d2 (but some of the latter are optimized for touchscreens and might not work well on an ipod)= [03:43:34] cool [04:34:10] *** Quits: [Saint_] (~quassel@rockbox/user/saint) (Remote host closed the connection) [04:35:54] *** Joins: [Saint] (~quassel@rockbox/user/saint) [05:20:46] *** Joins: cyb3rkn19ht (~cyb3rkn19@pool-71-163-243-218.washdc.fios.verizon.net) [06:05:53] *** Quits: cyb3rkn19ht (~cyb3rkn19@pool-71-163-243-218.washdc.fios.verizon.net) (Ping timeout: 248 seconds) [06:36:35] *** Quits: Doobs (b861f3cd@gateway/web/freenode/ip.184.97.243.205) (Quit: Page closed) [06:51:28] *** Quits: [7] (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) (Disconnected by services) [06:51:38] *** Joins: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) [16:00:29] *** Quits: liar (~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at) (Read error: No route to host) [16:10:23] *** Joins: liar (~liar@clnet-p09-185.ikbnet.co.at) [17:49:36] *** Parts: woodworker (~woodworke@c-base/crew/woodworker) ("WeeChat 0.3.0")
