I have a problem installin emcore to my ipod classic [18:33:04] i have a windows 7 pc [18:33:11] and i cant find Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver [18:33:24] which installation method? itunes installed or not? [18:33:36] yes itunes installed [18:34:04] hm, in that case that driver should already be present and install fully automatically... [18:34:33] hmm strange . should i reinstall itunes? [18:35:02] so the device manager is complaining that it can't find a driver for it? [18:35:39] exactly [18:36:00] in device and printers section of control panel [18:36:14] hm, can you have a look in c:\program files\common files\apple mobile device support\drivers or something like that? [18:36:23] apple mobile device usb driver has a questionmark [18:36:56] huh? that name suggests that it actually has a driver [18:37:13] and the ipod is probably in WTF mode now, not DFU [18:37:32] did you stop all apple services and kill all other apple processes before putting the ipod into DFU mode? [18:37:51] this seems like it has actually found a driver and itunes has already started attempting to reinstall the ipod firmware [18:38:09] I dont know how this mode is called but i've pressed menu+select and the ipod has black screen [18:38:24] that can be either one [18:38:44] itunes (or rather one of its helper processes) picks up DFU devices and puts them into WTF mode [18:39:47] and in common files there is only "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.resources" similar to device stuff [18:42:02] hm... [18:42:30] can you double check that all apple processes and services are stopped and retry putting it into dfu mode, then immediately running the bootstrapper tool? [18:42:40] the guide says to kill ipod related processes . should i stop services too? [18:43:00] well that service is a process as well, but it something might be starting it again [18:43:10] so check the services panel as well just to be sure [18:43:22] ok i'll try that [18:46:42] same thing . i connect the ipod (after pressing menu+select till the screen goes black) and windows cant find the missing drivers [18:48:21] ok i found the solution . there was actually a "driver" folder in that path but the folder was hidden so i found it and installed the driver correctly [18:48:31] thanks for your help seven [18:49:31] did that actually solve the problem? [18:49:42] the device name looks all wrong to me [18:50:23] it should either be called just "USB DFU Device" (if no driver is installed) or some apple name with "(DFU)" at the end (after driver installation) [18:53:06] yes i've manually searched from control panel>device manager , the drive from my local disk drive . and in the path that you told me i found a folder called driver. I've set to search in that folder [18:53:20] and the driver installed successfully [18:54:29] now i've proceed to the next step and i've unplugged my ipod so i cant see how the driver is called [18:55:34] *** Quits: alucard7 (5e47aace@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.71.170.206) (Quit: Page closed) [19:31:43] *** Joins: alucard7 (5e47aace@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.71.170.206) [19:32:01] seven are you on? [19:34:44] i've installed correctly emcore to my ipod classic . I've transfered some songs and i've listen to some music . After 15 minutes i've plugged my ipod to pc and after rockbox loads says " No partition found. insert usb calbe and fix it" [19:40:09] hm, odd [19:40:16] reproducible? [19:41:08] that kind of thing is fairly unlikely, but can happen if you unplug the cable in exactly the right millisecond without safely ejecting the drive first [19:41:43] if a reboot doesn't help, try reformatting the data partition from within emcore's tools menu [19:42:09] then boot rockbox and re-extract the rockbox zip file, power it off and back on [19:45:00] ok now is workingcorrectly [23:39:46] *** Quits: alucard7 (5e47aace@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.71.170.206) (Quit: Page closed)
