[23:41:47] :) [23:46:39] I seem to have a small problem installing emCORE to an iPod Classic. [23:47:13] Managed to install the WINUSB driver (I don't want iTunes on my PC), managed to successfully mount the UMSBoot volume, placed the .ubi file on it... [23:47:25] But when I eject the drive, the previous text is now all jumbled up. [23:47:34] No progress seems to occur from here. [23:51:18] can you please take a picture of the screen? [23:52:59] After it becomes all mumbled? :) [23:53:02] yes [23:53:23] It's just vertical lines, one while one black, very thin... [23:53:33] So it looks sort of gray from a distance. [23:53:41] But OK, I'll snap a quick pic. [23:53:42] :) [23:54:31] Crap, my Asha 201 can't focus on the lines, they're too thin. [23:54:44] The picture would just show a white rectangle. [23:54:46] :\ [23:55:17] <[Saint]> AFAIK we could /probably/ capture a screenshot while connected. [23:55:28] <[Saint]> But I'm not sure if this is in place anywhere other than the shell. [23:55:41] <[Saint]> user890104: ^? [23:56:46] [Saint]: we can't take screenshots when running umsboot, there's no emcore debug interface :) [23:56:49] not sure what state the ipod is even in at this stage [23:56:56] The weird thing is I put emCORE on it a while back, then reverted using the instructions supplied on the Wiki because I wanted to use iTunes (had access to OS X). [23:57:20] Well, it's not bricked or anything... [23:57:25] which operating system are you using? [23:57:29] I sort of risked it and rebooted, and it works fine. [23:57:34] Windows 8.1. [23:57:37] <[Saint]> The OS X woes are really amusing. I don't blame them, but, they handle it in a fucking stupid way. [23:57:44] which application are you using? bootstrap_ipodclassic.exe? [23:57:46] V_: yes, I'm just wondering whether it's still in umsboot or already in emcore at that point [23:57:54] Yep. [23:57:58] That application. :) [23:58:02] <[Saint]> "Hey, I recognize that V/PID, its an iPod...hey, iPod, you there...no? ...iPod?" [23:58:05] this app hasn't been updated in ages [23:58:05] user890104: did you manage to rebuild that mess with the new umsboot? [23:58:11] please wait a minute [23:58:50] <[Saint]> V_: FWIW, a custom build with a non-iPod V/PID should function on "stupid" devices and OS X. [23:59:03] <[Saint]> Some care stereos, all Macs, etc. [23:59:20] I am on Windows 8.1, now. :D [23:59:24] Sorry if I was unclear... [23:59:51] <[Saint]> They see the V/PID and try talking to the device via iPod Accessory Protocol, which Rockbox knows little of, and Rockbox on the Classic knows none of. [23:59:54] <[Saint]> So, it falls over.
