[02:15:48] Seems to be stuck on "Booting..." before i actualy get to the emcore menu [02:16:01] I was using a 2.0 port [02:17:04] <[Saint]> Are you certain you're ejectig the volume correctly? [02:17:26] <[Saint]> Dont use the system tray icon. [02:17:40] Correct [02:18:18] <[Saint]> Hmmm. Fucked if i know then. Weird. The Windows install is glued together by prayers and magic. [02:18:42] Great. [02:19:25] <[Saint]> TheSeven or user890104 may know whats going on but that may mean idling for some time. [02:20:25] thanks [02:29:00] How long should it take from "Booting..." to the emcore menu? [02:39:04] <[Saint]> A matter of seconds. [02:47:59] Now I get *PANIC* Undefined Instruction at 0800000C! [05:57:25] I am following instructions on this page: http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/DFUiTunes [05:58:27] I'm doing everything correctly, but I run into problems when I press and hold the select and menu button for 15 seconds [05:59:21] I don't see any Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver installing on my windows vista [06:01:35] as a result when I try to run bootstrap_ipodclassic_itunes.exe my i pod loads up a glitched apple logo [06:02:04] I don't know how to rectify this, can someone please help? [06:04:20] My ipod is a 160gb with serial number not ending in y5n, ymu, ymv and ymx - i am using windows vista. I have closed all processes in command, i tunes is not running. [06:14:48] <[Saint]> If you cant get into DFU mode, im not sure we can help you. [06:15:03] <[Saint]> That step cannot be automated. It relies on you. [06:19:42] Am i supposed to install something beforehand, like rockbox? [06:21:26] <[Saint]> No. [06:22:06] <[Saint]> Were that the case the instructions would mention it explicitely. [06:22:53] Ok thanks. [06:24:07] <[Saint]> You can try toggling hold on and off, and then retrying to enter DFU mode, but other than that DFU mode is timing based, you either get it or you dont. [06:24:20] <[Saint]> Though...there is a 3 second window. [06:25:26] I don't understand. [06:28:51] *** Joins: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) [06:28:54] <[Saint]> Its hardware controlled. [06:29:16] <[Saint]> Forcing DFU mode is guaranteed to work, if the timing is correct. [06:30:57] <[Saint]> It may actually be that the device is in DFU mode, bur your host simply isnt recognizing it. Its difficult to verify this case, because DFU node is largely idestinguishable from the device being powered off. [06:31:29] <[Saint]> You're not using USB3, are you? Or a front panel USB port? [06:31:47] <[Saint]> Though i havent seen DFU mode ever bitch about USB3... [06:32:01] <[Saint]> Front panel ports are notoriously unreliable. [06:34:06] I'm using a 2.0 usb port from this aspire 7720g laptop [06:42:03] Im restarting my laptop and trying again, thank you :) [06:46:16] *** Quits: Guest68163 (3a6e3515@gateway/web/freenode/ip.58.110.53.21) (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) [07:26:29] *** Joins: alan_ (3a6e3515@gateway/web/freenode/ip.58.110.53.21) [07:26:33] hi [07:26:52] *** alan_ is now known as Guest15101 [08:01:18] thanks guys, i was asking before how to unlock my ipod 160gb [08:02:41] I've figured it out by restarting my laptop -> uninstalling all apple programs -> this time manually installing the single i tunes file as directed from here http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/InstalliTunesDrivers [08:04:02] i should note that im using windows vista. I had an apple program that was running under the services tab in command prompt. I was unable to turn this off. It was only after I un installed everything and installed the single i tunes file that I was able to switch this feature off [08:04:24] the driver was successfully installed, thanks [08:04:42] :) [08:05:40] tldr apple program running in background. uninstalled every apple program and started from scratch: http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/InstalliTunesDrivers [09:44:45] *** Quits: [Saint] (~saint@rockbox/staff/saint) (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) [09:44:46] *** Quits: Guest15101 (3a6e3515@gateway/web/freenode/ip.58.110.53.21) (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) [10:05:11] *** Joins: [Saint] (~saint@rockbox/staff/saint) [10:13:47] *** Quits: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) (Ping timeout: 272 seconds) [10:14:33] *** Joins: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) [12:16:42] Ok guys i'm still having problems.
