Looking for a bit of help with the process of putting Pcobox on a 7gen iPod via EmCORE [14:43:59] Rockbox :) [14:46:08] My problem is in the first few stages of the process when turing the iPod into an "Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver". It says driver installation incomplete and won't show as a drive [14:46:51] *** Quits: bernard_ (5f9254a5@gateway/web/freenode/session) (Changing host) [14:46:51] *** Joins: bernard_ (5f9254a5@gateway/web/freenode/ip.95.146.84.165) [14:50:42] In essence, how can I get my iPod to the stage where it is showing as a 64MB drive called "UMSboot" so i can continue the installation procedure? [17:24:11] but you managed to get into umsboot mode? in that case you're probably ejecting it the wrong way [17:25:01] yeah, no problems in that.. also itunes recovery crashes [17:25:40] you need to right click on the drive in explorer, then click "eject" there. doing it from the system tray doesn't work for some reason... [17:26:13] trying to get the thing to work with msata ssd (tarkan adapter)... yep. been ejecting it [17:26:27] ok, so what exactly is it doing after that? [17:26:54] right now its stuck in "booting..." in the ubi mode [17:27:17] hm, which ubi file are you using? this suggests that the ubi file might be corrupted [17:27:40] (you shouldn't see that "booting" line at all, it should only be visible for a few milliseconds) [17:28:26] okey... [17:29:31] trying with the file from the tarkan website [17:29:55] sometimes it shows a panic message [17:33:00] i pre formatted the ssd to fat32... [17:43:17] ok, what does that panic message say exactly? [17:43:27] and it shouldn't care what's on the ssd before installation [17:43:47] (it will just wipe it anyway) [17:45:03] it had some numbers but its not showing it properly anymore [17:49:24] even stranger, it mounted the ssd trough ipod just fine now... [17:51:09] but fails to boot apple firmware [18:05:11] yes, that's expected, as there's no apple firmware on that ssd [18:05:34] hmm maybe its running low on power by now [18:05:42] could it be that [18:06:02] it shouldn't be if it's plugged into a PC, and not continuously accessing the SSD [18:21:01] ..latest ubi from emcore wiki gives an error: undefined instruction at 0800004C! [18:22:23] looks like a corrupted ubi file again [18:26:17] its flashing... could it be the bootstrap.itunes.exe.. tried a different one [18:27:10] hm, weird [18:27:28] can you tell me where exactly you got the working and failing versions from? [18:29:38] the failing one is from the tarkan site, tinyurl.com/kd3o82k [18:29:57] is that a v0.2.x one already? [18:29:58] used the ubi from that tough [18:30:10] hmm? [18:30:20] did it have black or white screen background? [18:30:44] the exe? [18:30:54] or what?... [18:31:03] the ipod while being in umsboot mode (after running the exe) [18:31:22] i.e. the screen that said "booting..." [18:31:31] there eas white blank screen... [18:31:31] was [18:31:55] hmm [18:32:19] so with the bootstrap exe file release on our site it works? [18:32:54] yes [18:34:19] ah nice this emcore has actal progresbar for formatting the datapartition [18:34:42] yeah, shouldn't take more than a few seconds though [18:35:32] well, at 1TB... it will take a short while [18:37:21] hm yeah, it will write a gigabyte or so [18:37:36] for these huge drives a different formatting mode might be useful [18:37:46] hmm, wont boot rockbox fallback [18:37:52] this code was never designed to deal with such large disks ;) [18:37:56] hm, how does it fail? [18:38:19] ata error -2147483626 [18:38:29] press on to debug [18:39:24] which rockbox version is that? [18:39:46] might be too old for that (rather new) mSATA adapter [18:40:32] hmm diskmode on emcore wont work. rb is -140.... it booted now [18:41:07] please give me the full rockbox version number of the fallback image [18:41:45] didnt have time to see it.. sec ill take a pic of the screen to have time to read it [18:42:02] if it booted up successfully, you can find it in some menu [18:42:07] system => rockbox info or something like that [18:42:22] emcore is 0.2.3... [18:43:58] fallback rb: 03c115cM-140729 [18:49:48] ill need to charge it a bit... ssd acces peaks the power usage witch migh cause the boot failures.. seems to be better when connected to a wall charger rather than pc [18:56:39] hm, that's an old but patched build, hard to tell what it really is [18:57:06] you might want to try uprading to the latest rockbox development build, which includes some ATA fixes that are relevant for these adapters [18:58:08] hmm... okey [21:55:52] *** Joins: RazerLine (46a0616c@gateway/web/freenode/ip.70.160.97.108) [21:56:09] Hello everyone. I have UMSboot install and when i use the backup image and connect it via USB for the Drive disk. The usb will get going on and on and off and never stops. I did find a ubi file but every ubi file i use i get a panic inside UMS boot [22:04:22] also says "Data abort at 22000304" [22:05:46] er... we need to clear some things up [22:06:13] you're talking about "umsboot" and "backup (fallback?) image" in once sentence [22:06:24] those two don't really have anything in common ;) [22:06:49] so, let's analyze this step by step. what exactly are you doing, and what exactly happens after each step?
