[00:00:24] (I may add that distributing patched binaries but not releasing the source code patch is a license violation) [00:01:17] I'm not sure how he distributes it, but there is an old rockbox thread where a mod suggests he submit the code officially [00:01:40] I only know him cause of the head-fi ipod classic mod thread [00:03:26] hm well only thing I can show you is his website: http://beyondwind.duckdns.org/?page_id=147 [00:03:50] and the patch itself, just the files, no source [00:04:30] and for the rest, only thing I know is that my 840 evo wouldnt work without it! [00:05:07] even with builds newer than september 22nd? [00:05:18] (or my patched build above) [00:07:16] with a development build of a week or so ago [00:07:48] this thread has to dropbox links to the patch, if you're interested: http://www.head-fi.org/t/566780/official-ipod-video-classic-5g-5-5g-6g-6-5g-7g-ssd-mod-thread/4425 [00:09:07] I'd strongly urge the author of that patch to put it on rockbox's patch tracker [00:09:47] in that case it's quite reasonable to assume that this will be merged within a few weeks [00:09:55] (unless the patch is really crappy) [00:10:05] hahaha [00:10:13] you never know [00:10:22] its been around for a while though [00:10:38] I think he's active on the head-fi forums [00:10:55] but if the patch isn't submitted, there isn't much we could do about it, other than suing the author to release the source, which nobody would bother to do [00:12:01] that would be extremely disproportionate, yeah ;) [00:12:59] guy named saint suggested he put it up on gerrit here: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=42523.45 [00:13:17] yeah, I already guessed that it was [Saint] ;) [00:13:24] but beyondwind's an elusive guy! [00:13:50] hah [00:13:57] I think here it is: http://beyondwind.duckdns.org/downloads/ipod5g_msata_mod.patch [00:14:03] he just didn't link that anywhere [00:14:25] hm [00:14:56] ok I'm no programmer so you could just as well send binary [00:15:32] hm, that patch is just for the ipod video, not for the ipod classic :/ [00:15:36] but does that mean it's going to be in a build? [00:15:48] yeah damn, he has two versions [00:15:56] ...and just the source of one online [00:16:31] ah well [00:16:40] my ipod works anyway [00:16:51] thanks again man, I'm gonna go [00:17:23] *** Parts: Poddie (d978da94@gateway/web/freenode/ip.217.120.218.148) () [06:17:31] *** Quits: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) (Ping timeout: 265 seconds) [06:18:28] *** Joins: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) [08:30:47] *** Joins: mmarcino (457e3a5b@gateway/web/freenode/ip.69.126.58.91) [08:35:25] Hi guys, i'm trying to install rockbox on a 6th gen ipod classic. My problem is that my computer will not recognize the ipod once it is in dfu mode. It worked initially, but didn't properly install the Apple recovery driver, and now I am unable to get it installed properly. Any thoughts? [08:37:12] I'll keep this open, but am going to bed.
