[07:15:46] Hello, I am back. I never know how long to wait. The instructions I followed to the letter (several times) are from "EmCORE Installation/iPodClassic/DFUiTunes - freemyipod.org https://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/DFUiTunes". Yes, I would be interested in anything that would get emCORE and Rockbox working on my Ipod 6G (MC297). Would you like my email address? [07:17:00] I had enCORE and rockbox running before on a 6G, but it suffered a catastrophe (it was crushed). I don't know why I never see the UMSboot volume. I have my computer psimplified down to the boot drive, and nothing else. [07:20:36] I only have the Ipod connected to a motherboard USB port (2.0), and I have tried disabling anti-virus and malware programs, but it makes no difference. I could do it from a "Live CD" (Linux), but I have no experience usig or navigating in Linus. Would it see the Ipod natively? [10:04:11] i'm not sure which version are the files which [Saint] links to, so this is the latest official (as in "built by the bootloader author himself") version: http://files.freemyipod.org/~user890104/bootloader-ipodclassic-v8/ [10:06:00] the instructions are simple - close itunes, connect the ipod, start RockboxUtility, select Show disabled targets, then choose iPod Classic/6G, select Bootloader, Rockbox and whatever else you need (fonts, themes, game files), then click Install and follow the instructions in the tall window that pops up exactly. [10:06:47] this is everything you need to do in order to install both Rockbox and the dual-boot bootloader - you don't need any part of emCORE's files or instructions [10:08:01] if you thing anything with the ipod is meessed up because of failed attempts, you can restore it with itunes (from either dfu or normal mode, depending on the current condition), and then follow the install instructions i gave you [10:08:05] good luck [10:09:20] ah, forgot - the installer is packaged, so you can get either RockboxBootloaderInstaller_iPodClassic_v8.zip or RockboxBootloaderInstaller_iPodClassic_v8.exe - the latter is a self-extracting archive, containing the same files as the zip, so you don't have to download the files one by one [10:10:50] I never got the version from https://goo.gl/PzxXZn, since google says I need permission via an email to access it.
