I'm following the instructions to free my ipod classic, but I have no "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe" process to kill. What do I do? Thanks [03:34:24] <[Saint]> The related Apple processes should be fairly obviously named. [03:34:38] <[Saint]> Just wipe out anything that even remotely looks Apple/iTunes related. [03:34:49] <[Saint]> Or...don't, and use the no-iTunes install method. [03:39:54] K. I killed the Ituneshelper.exe and another itunes program, held down the buttons to switch it off but it just seems to keep resetting, loading up with the apple sign and repeating again.. [03:45:48] What is the no-itunes install method btw? [03:56:47] So I've run the bootstrap_ipodclassic_itunes.exe and now it seems to be stuck with a screen that shows a thick black line down the left hand side of the screen and while the rest shows the standard screen with apple logo [03:57:53] there is a device window saying its installing device, but nothing is happening... [04:02:00] <[Saint]> Our interactive installation wiki details the installation variants quite clearly. [04:02:26] <[Saint]> It is somewhat hard to believe one could use the installation resources on the wiki and miss it, actually. [04:03:29] <[Saint]> Note: you really shouldn't be using emCORE anyway. [04:03:45] <[Saint]> It was never intended for end users, and is to be considered deprecated. [04:04:23] <[Saint]> Please consider using the current state of Rockbox bootloader development and semi-automated installation via Rockbox Utility. [04:04:27] Ok so should i just cancel out of installation then? Will that affect anything? [04:04:59] <[Saint]> I have compiled both Windows and Linux binaries for mk6gboot and Rockbox Utility and they are available here: [04:05:00] <[Saint]> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B21WxDt28-t9SWo2MF9kLU44MUE [04:05:21] <[Saint]> And, no, canceling the installation at this stage will have absolutely zero effect on the device. [04:05:51] <[Saint]> There is a README provided in the archive. [04:06:43] Righto. Ill do that. Thank you very much your help! [04:11:20] <[Saint]> sources for the aforementioned binaries may be located here: [04:11:21] <[Saint]> http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/q/status:open+project:rockbox+branch:master+topic:gerrit/bootloader [04:13:55] Ok great, I'll check it out. Thanks again! :) [04:28:29] *** Quits: richie_ah (3cf1ab78@gateway/web/freenode/ip.60.241.171.120) (Quit: Page closed) [04:32:36] <[Saint]> Guess he got it.
