[21:47:28] <[7]> wouldn't be the first time that a whole bunch of bad sectors has built up in the firmware area that is written only very rarely [21:47:29] you hold << or >> [21:47:40] <[7]> menu+select, then left+select [21:47:44] thanks [21:47:53] I knew it was one way or the other [21:48:31] <[7]> user890104: we really need to implement SMART support in emCORE :) [21:54:47] what am I looking for in the SMART data? [22:19:25] well, here it is http://picpaste.com/2013-09-20_12.06.54-bNjpqKYi.jpg [22:30:40] [7]: via a monitor command, or in UMS? [22:30:59] i guess we should do the former first [22:45:42] <[7]> UMS might actually be easier [22:46:09] <[7]> because most SMART-capable UMS controllers just expose a "send raw ATA command" interface via UMS to do SMART [22:46:23] <[7]> which means smartmontools can already talk to that and offload most of the hard work to software [22:46:36] <[7]> HiImTye: those stats don't indicate any problems [22:47:03] <[7]> can't see a reason why restoring would run into trouble [23:26:17] oh, my restore was fine, it's every other time I've tried to transfer things using Apple's firmware that has cause problems [23:27:35] my general strategy to prevent disconnect while transferring MP3s was transfer 40 or less, wait, transfer 40 or less, ... [23:28:47] that was the first thing I was amazed with when I put RockBox on it, was that I was able to transfer my entire media library without disconnecting [23:29:42] funny enough, it happened on my old iPod Nano years ago when I used Winblows [23:29:49] same exact problem [23:30:17] different computer too, so def. not a USB interface issue
