ZZZzzz…) [16:26:58] *** Joins: iallen (b52fd957@gateway/web/freenode/ip.181.47.217.87) [16:27:16] hello? [16:29:21] I just followed the emCore installation for my iPod Classic v6 and all went ok. BUT, when the RockBox part came in, the problems came [16:29:54] what kind of problems? [16:30:09] when you boot RockBox, the guide sais "Wait for the iPod's hard disk drive to connect and become accessible" [16:30:31] well thats the problem, the disk is not accesible at all [16:31:20] did you extract the rockbox zip file already, or are you still before that step? [16:31:55] when I tried to open the disk from the windows browser it shows a window asking to format the disk cause it have no format [16:32:54] yes, the ipod has emcore & rockbox installed, as the guide says [16:33:39] thats when I open rockbox in the ipod and a USB plug picture came fullscreen [16:34:07] you're contradicting yourself [16:34:50] sorry, why? [16:35:23] so did you manage to write the contents of rockbox.zip to the ipod already? [16:35:33] that's pretty much the last step of the instructions [16:36:05] or did you run into trouble accessing the disk just before doing that already? [16:36:30] *** Joins: jan_bee_ (~some@vpn.janbeerden.be) [16:37:42] no, thats the point!, after installing emcore and opening rockbox in the ipod, the disk is not accessible from windows, so I cant put the rockbox.zip files [16:38:04] is it correct? [16:38:19] hm [16:38:35] what does the emcore boot menu look like? [16:38:39] some snow landscape? [16:38:43] or just blue background? [16:39:18] ice, trees and snow falling [16:39:53] hm, so emcore can actually access the disk [16:40:01] but windows asks you to format it? [16:40:06] that's kinda weird [16:40:24] *** Quits: jan_bee (~some@vpn.janbeerden.be) (Ping timeout: 255 seconds) [16:40:28] yeah [16:41:02] well, just try saying "yes" then [16:41:06] and letting windows format it [16:41:22] just to check if that fails as well ;) [16:42:08] windows will format it as ntfs or exfat, which rockbox can't read, so that's not a real solution, but if formatting fails, we know that it actually just can't access the disk, and the problem isn't with the formatting at all [16:42:09] ok, i just did that and in the ipod came a text saying "core panic" or some like that [16:42:17] hm... [16:42:24] is it possible to install rockbox from emcore console? [16:42:52] try formatting it from windows again, see if you can reproduce the panic, and tell me the exact panic message [16:42:55] or add it in te .ubi file? [16:43:01] okey [16:43:12] all of that won't help you, because you couldn't actually put any music on it [16:43:28] oh, good point [16:43:40] might be worth a try to connect it to a different pc [16:43:53] that usb driver is kinda flaky, but normally it works well enough for this step [16:44:08] so it might be your PC being especially picky about it [16:44:56] yeah, maybe [16:45:06] format: ntfs or exfat? [16:54:22] doesn't matter, rockbox can't read either ;) [16:54:42] but this is just a test to see if it can access it at all - if yes, we can later reformat it properly again [20:28:16] *** Quits: iallen (b52fd957@gateway/web/freenode/ip.181.47.217.87) (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) [22:45:19] *** Joins: benedikt93 (~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93)
