The OF also exposes an HID USB interface, ATM it is not active for Classic in RB (probably it doesn't work well), i know nothing about how the HID is used by the OF on Classic and it it is related with some kind of iPod control. [14:55:00] prof_wolfff: so iAP is operating over HID in OF? [14:56:25] no, i only guess if HID could also be used for this [14:57:53] you can try to see if there are any commands on the serial line, i can send you a modified version to see that [14:58:32] when connecting to a car, only the usb pins are connected [14:58:58] then, it is controlled by USB [14:59:15] i guess some desktop docks use the serial pins directly [15:00:49] the accessories i tested are using the serial line, but maybe they are also packing the iAP using USB (?), really i have no idea about HID USB on iPod but will try to get a look on this [15:01:32] the iPod has also a audio USB interface when OF is used [15:01:56] you can see them using lsusb on linux [15:04:36] if line out is not connected to the car then probably they are using the USB audio? [15:18:02] yes :) [15:18:28] on an ipod touch, you can hear your apps' sounds via car's speakers, using only usb connection [15:18:45] so that explains it [15:21:02] read somewhere that the USB audio is encrypted, if OF can do it then we can do it, but don't know if there are some legal issues... [15:32:09] uhm, how do we get the keys? [15:35:29] You buy http://www.amazon.com/Million-Random-Digits-Normal-Deviates/dp/0833030477/ and hope they're in there [15:38:41] :) well it is supposed that the keys are inside the iPods, we 'only' need to replicate what OF is doing [15:40:29] i think that the keys are more intended to refuse accessories that do not are certificated by Apple, but note that i have no idea on this issue, it is only to figure something [15:46:32] well, we can always woraround the legal issues, by reading the keys from a file on the hard disk [15:46:49] and then pointing users to websites, that host said file [18:04:18] *** Joins: orpheu (c2d2c237@gateway/web/freenode/ip.194.210.194.55) [19:34:50] *** Quits: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) (Remote host closed the connection) [19:35:18] *** Quits: Elfish_ (amba@2001:1608:12:1:13:3:3:7) (Ping timeout: 240 seconds) [19:39:39] *** Joins: TheSeven (~quassel@rockbox/developer/TheSeven) [19:40:32] *** Joins: Elfish_ (amba@2001:1608:12:1:13:3:3:7) [20:56:28] *** Quits: orpheu (c2d2c237@gateway/web/freenode/ip.194.210.194.55) (Quit: Page closed) [23:57:50] *** Quits: STeeF (~STeeF@office.hostnetbv.nl) (Remote host closed the connection)
