It seems after installing the latest iLoader, under Linux the iPod filesystem is mounted as read only and I am unable to add/remove any files on it. Would anyone know why this is happening? 15:47 < Farthen> hmm 15:48 < Farthen> try mount -n -o remount,rw /media/youripod 15:50 < dakiato> The command executed fine, but now it seems I can add files/delete them if they are on the root of the iPod, but anything in folders are still locked as read-only. How odd 15:51 < dakiato> Oh nevermind, I was mistaken. All files are read-only 15:51 < dakiato> Would it be best to restore this on a computer with iTunes and start from scratch? 15:52 < Farthen> hmm, i can't imaging why this happens 15:52 < Farthen> *imagine 15:52 < Farthen> can you try to add/delete a file as root? 15:52 < dakiato> Sure, let me check 15:53 < dakiato> bash: test.txt: Read-only file system - As root that is what I get 15:54 < Farthen> that's weird 15:54 < dakiato> Indeed 15:54 < Farthen> what is the output of "mount | grep /media/youripod" ? 15:55 < dakiato> /dev/sdc on /media/WAFFLES type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=udisks,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,flush) 15:56 < Farthen> hmm, it definitely states rw 15:56 * Farthen is confused 15:56 < Farthen> are you running disk mode? 15:56 < dakiato> Yep. Tried with the iLoader disk mode, and booting the Apple firmware's one both with the same results 15:57 < Farthen> do you have a windows machine around? 15:57 < dakiato> will a Virtual Machine work? 15:57 -!- kyle6513 [~kyle@CPE-58-174-130-14.mjcz1.woo.bigpond.net.au] has joined #linux4nano 15:58 < kyle6513> hey guys 15:58 < Farthen> maybe, i don't know. i'm just wondering if the same problem occurs on windows 15:58 < Farthen> hi 15:58 < kyle6513> problem and windows in the same sentence is a widely used sentence (: 15:58 < kyle6513> (im very aware that sentence didnt make much sense) 15:58 < Farthen> this time the problem seems to be a linux one ;) 15:58 < kyle6513> ah, whats going on? 15:59 < Farthen> somehow the ipod mounts as read-only on linux after installing iloader... 15:59 < kyle6513> odd, where is iloader being installed? 16:00 < kyle6513> maybe its a permissions issue 16:00 < kyle6513> try a sudo'd command. 16:00 < Farthen> dakiato: can you umount the ipod, plug it out, plug it back in, mount it and paste the last 30 lines of /var/log/syslog to http://pastebin.com 16:00 < Farthen> ? 16:01 < Farthen> kyle6513: we already tried using root 16:01 < dakiato> Alright, I have the iPod mounted under my VM, and I have full read/write to all of the iPod 16:01 < dakiato> let me try that command.. 16:02 < Farthen> should be tail -n 30 /var/log/syslog after doing the first steps ;) 16:02 < kyle6513> i take it we have an iloader alpha? 16:03 < Farthen> alpha? what do you mean? 16:03 < Farthen> iloader is pretty stable actually ;) 16:03 < dakiato> http://paste2.org/p/968610 16:03 < kyle6513> haha 16:03 < dakiato> pastebin was down 16:03 < Farthen> np 16:04 < Farthen> the log looks ok 16:04 < Farthen> this should not have anything to do with iloader... 16:05 < Farthen> can you try to mount the ipod somewhere else? just in case there is something wrong with the directory... 16:05 < dakiato> sure 16:06 < dakiato> Same results in /mnt 16:06 < kyle6513> If you want I can boot up my linux and see if its a specific issue to linux? 16:06 -!- Salamander [54e26645@gateway/web/freenode/ip.84.226.102.69] has joined #linux4nano 16:07 < Farthen> kyle6513: if it was like that then people would have complained earlier ;) 16:07 < kyle6513> Farthen, Thats very true 16:07 < Farthen> dakiato: i really don't know what's the problem here... which distribution are you running? 16:08 < dakiato> Ubuntu 10.04 16:08 < Salamander> DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF I CAN LOAD IGPSP WITH ILOADER ??AND IF YES, HOW CAN I DO IT? 16:08 < kyle6513> O.o 16:09 < kyle6513> IGPSP? 16:09 < Farthen> Salamander: 1) please don't shout and 2)can you tell me what igpsp is? 16:09 < Farthen> dakiato: the only idea i have is that you could try to reboot and check if it works afterwards 16:09 < Salamander> ysorry ^^' igpsp ia a gba emulator 16:09 < kyle6513> Farthen, its an emulator for the gameboy advanced 16:09 < Farthen> ok, i see 16:10 < Farthen> you can not run that it with iloader... 16:10 < kyle6513> Salamander, although I do believe that rockbox, which works with iloader (for the nano 2g atleast for now) has some sort of emulator for the game boys 16:11 < liar> # 16:11 < liar> # 16:11 < Salamander> yes its gb and gbc only 16:11 < Farthen> liar: what the hell are you doing there? xD 16:11 < Salamander> and i really want to play gba 16:11 < kyle6513> Farthen, IGPSP is also for the ipod touch... 16:12 < kyle6513> Salamander, I'll look to see if theres any addons for GBA yet. 16:12 < Salamander> ok thx 16:12 < Farthen> Salamander: but check http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PluginRockboy 16:12 < Farthen> it is a rockbox plugin 16:12 < kyle6513> Farthen, Just found it :P 16:13 < Salamander> I know this one but its only for gb and gbc -- 16:13 < Farthen> then there is no gba emulator, i'm sorry for that 16:13 < Salamander> ok no problem 16:14 < kyle6513> Salamander, The only condolences I can salvage is if you have a psp go for that :P 16:14 < Farthen> or just use a gba, gba sp, nds or nds lite :-P 16:15 < Salamander> no i only have a psp 3004 16:15 < kyle6513> Farthen, NDS is very poor value tbh. 16:15 < kyle6513> Salamander, they have been hacked to be allowed to run custom software, 16:15 < kyle6513> Salamander, This is fairly offtopic though, private chat? 16:16 < Salamander> sorry i must go now 16:16 -!- Salamander [54e26645@gateway/web/freenode/ip.84.226.102.69] has quit [Quit: Page closed] 16:16 < kyle6513> Salamander, Sorry I couldn't help. 16:17 < Farthen> dakiato: any progress in your weird problem? 16:18 < kyle6513> It could be possible to port any sort of python gba emulator to run on the nano. Depending if the cpu can handle it 16:18 < dakiato> Just reformatted the entire device, there were a lot of strange errors from fsck 16:18 < kyle6513> maybe a strange bug in the installer? 16:18 < dakiato> It was the filesystem, full R/W under Linux now 16:19 < dakiato> How odd 16:19 < dakiato> But, hoorah! I'd imagine it'd be nearly the same 16:37 < Farthen> they are something completely different 16:37 < kyle6513> dakiato, hardware changes like the processor i would imagine, aswell as encryption 16:37 < Farthen> and the fact is that nobody cares about porting linux 16:37 < Farthen> so nobody does it 16:38 < kyle6513> dakiato, All you would really be able to do with linux is run programs, which can already be done by emBIOS 16:38 < Farthen> it is not a hell lot of work but nobody wants to do it 16:38 < kyle6513> (from what I understand) 16:38 < Farthen> you would need to recompile the programs anyway to make them run on linux. so you could just rewrite them for emBIOS 16:39 < Farthen> (or write a rockbox plugin) 16:39 < kyle6513> what does emBIOS run? 16:40 < Farthen> emBIOS apps :) 16:40 < kyle6513> haha, coded in what? arm? 16:40 < Farthen> c 16:41 < kyle6513> so you can run c and python on the ipod nano, 16:41 < kyle6513> :P 16:41 < Farthen> python? no, there is no python interpreter on the ipods 16:41 < kyle6513> ibugger? 16:42 < kyle6513> or was it python you ran which interfaced with ibugger 16:42 < Farthen> exactly 16:42 < kyle6513> ah haha 16:42 < Farthen> ibugger was completely replaced with emBIOS 16:42 < kyle6513> my brain is all over the place tonight 16:42 < kyle6513> so emBIOS apps are exe's? or 16:43 < kyle6513> dlls 16:43 < Farthen> .embiosapp's 16:43 < kyle6513> hahaha 16:43 < kyle6513> from what I understand C must be compiled though? 16:43 < Farthen> it's just a very small header with some information and then the code compiled for the target platform 16:44 < kyle6513> ah okay 16:45 -!- kyle6513 [~kyle@CPE-58-174-130-14.mjcz1.woo.bigpond.net.au] has quit [Quit: Leaving] 16:58 -!- user890104 [Venci@Venci-Notebook-LAN.ipv6.6bez10.info] has quit [] 17:00 -!- clustur [~logger@c-76-127-58-39.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 17:00 -!- clustur [~logger@c-76-127-58-39.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has joined #linux4nano --- Log opened Sun Aug 29 17:58:42 2010 17:58 -!- fmibot [~fmibot@static.225.178.40.188.clients.your-server.de] has joined #linux4nano 17:58 -!- Farthen [~Farthen@static.225.178.40.188.clients.your-server.de] has joined #linux4nano 18:04 -!- TheSeven [~TheSeven@rockbox/developer/TheSeven] has joined #linux4nano 18:04 -!- mode/#linux4nano [+o TheSeven] by ChanServ 18:08 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has joined #linux4nano 18:10 -!- Danzelot [~morgil@p5B2CF43B.dip.t-dialin.net] has quit [Read error: Connection timed out] 18:10 -!- Danzelot [~morgil@p5B2CF43B.dip.t-dialin.net] has joined #linux4nano 19:24 -!- drostie [~marathon@5ED17066.cable.ziggo.nl] has joined #linux4nano 20:00 -!- user890104 [Venci@Venci-Notebook-LAN.ipv6.6bez10.info] has joined #linux4nano 20:26 -!- benedikt93 [~benedikt9@unaffiliated/benedikt93] has quit [Quit: Bye ;)] 21:43 -!- n1s [~n1s@rockbox/developer/n1s] has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds] 21:58 -!- Danzelot [~morgil@p5B2CF43B.dip.t-dialin.net] has quit [Quit: Connection reset by beer.] 23:00 -!- clustur [~logger@c-76-127-58-39.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 23:00 -!- clustur [~logger@c-76-127-58-39.hsd1.ga.comcast.net] has joined #linux4nano 23:07 -!- drostie [~marathon@5ED17066.cable.ziggo.nl] has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] --- Log closed Mon Aug 30 00:02:29 2010
